Job Description

York Community Resource Center (YCRC)

YCRC is a multi-purpose community resource center serving the residents of the Villa Park area. Programs include after-school and summer programs for children and youth in 1st -8th grades, supportive wrap-around services for program families and community organizing efforts in the neighborhood.


The Junior High Teacher works with the Junior High Program Coordinator to build relationships with and facilitate learning for junior high students in the Villa Park community. Responsibilities include academic instruction, homework support, facilitating service learning activities, life skills instruction and recreational activities, as well as behavior management and participation in team building. Additional responsibilities include record keeping as required by agency or grants and transporting students as needed.


Job Requirements

A passion for working with junior high students; BA in Education or a related field; classroom or group experience with adolescents; experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from modest-income and culturally diverse communities, strong organizational and communication skills. Valid IL Driver’s License, good driving record and proof of insurance. Spanish language skills preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.  A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required.


Part-time at an average of 25 hours/week, M – F, 1:30 pm to 6:30pm or 7pm. Hours vary during school breaks and holiday weeks. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for special events and program needs. This position is for the academic year with the possibility of continuing during the summer.

Compensation for this position falls between $15 and $17 per hour based on education, experience, skills and language ability.
