Job Description

The Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream (OCC)

The Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream is a multi-purpose, neighborhood resource center serving a low-income, ethnically diverse neighborhood. Services include counseling, casework, mentoring, community development, services for older adults and after-school and summer programs for children and youth.

The Bilingual Office Manager oversees all front desk operations and reception, the first point of contact for guests of the Center. The Bilingual Office Manager reports to the Executive Director and supervises 3 staff and a small group of volunteers.

Responsibilities include administrative support for the OCC executive director; managing site communications; facilitating support for program staff; volunteer and staff supervision;  logistics, hospitality and minutes for staff and community board meetings; assisting staff with the writing and editing of reports and correspondence; document translation; management of office supplies and service requests for office equipment; handling fee collection and receipting and providing back-up coverage for reception as needed. 

Job Requirements

The position requires a passion for supporting staff and providing the best customer service to OCC’s guests. 5+ years of office management and administrative support experience; previous experience supervising staff and/or volunteers; advanced level skill in Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint; basic IT troubleshooting ability; strong customer-service skills; demonstrated research, data management, writing/editing ability; a hospitable and professional presence with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual (Spanish/ English). A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith.

The schedule is full-time. Daytime hours with occasional evenings for board or community meetings and to provide back-up coverage for front desk staff.

The hourly rate for this position falls between $16.50 and $20.20 based on language ability, skills, and experience.
