Job Summary

Our family ministry is seeking a full-time Associate Director (AD). Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Associate Director will spearhead fundraising and development efforts as Familyhood Ministries continues to grow. In addition, the AD will work closely the with ED to create budgets and develop business and program plans. This position is located mainly on the Southside of Chicago, but will require travel throughout the city and suburbs.

Job Requirements


  • Develop and execute Familyhood’s annual fundraising plan, working with outside consultants and like-minded nonprofit agencies, as necessary.

  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations, government, and United Way.

  • Manage the implementation of the CRM software and work closely with staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.

  • Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors.

  • Develop and track proposals and reports for the government, foundations, corporations, and United Way.

  • In conjunction with ED and the Program Manager, oversee the planning process for fundraising events.

  • Publish regular fundraising reports and newsletters for annual and major donors.

  • Work with ED on program development, including research, strategy on how to scale, and manage the plan for execution.

  • Get involved in long-term business planning at the managerial and executive level.

  • Collaborate with the ED and Accountant to develop budgets and financial plans.


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Preferably in the social services


  • 3+ years in a leadership role

  • Experience in the nonprofit sector

  • Experience in development and fundraising

  • Experience writing business plans and developing budgets


  • Effectively able to communicate the mission and programs of Familyhood Ministries

  • Demonstrates strong sense of initiative

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Proficient and comfortable working with computer software systems (e.g. Google Suite, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, PowerPoints)

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills

  • Organized and detail-oriented
